Therapies assisted with dogs

In the interaction field between people and animals, we have two groups: assisted activities with animals (AAA) and the assisted intervention with animals (AIA) where we find the animal assisted therapies programmes (AAT) and animal assisted education program (AAE).

The main difference between AAA and AIA is that AAA give us the opportunity of making better the life quality of a person giving motivation, social and /or therapeutic benefits without the necessity of being evaluated or planned.

The AIA: are programmes designed for promoting improvement in the physical, social, educational, emotional and/or cognition of the person are designed, developed and evaluated by a health or education professional. Existing some specific objectives prestablished for each person.

The benefits are a lot and among them we emphasize: empathy work, facilitate a communication channel between the patient and therapist, socialising with the rest of the group, mental and cognitive stimulation, benefits concentration, facilitates physical contact, physiological benefits, etc.
